Who we are

This started with a pour-over. But it never really was just about coffee.

APO began with the ritual — the rhythm of a slow pour, the sound of boiling water, the focus it takes to get it right. Brewing coffee by hand taught us something: that care, presence, and patience go a long way. That lesson stuck, and it shaped everything that followed.

Started by Sean and Ryan — two longtime friends who bonded over a shared love of movement, early mornings, and great coffee — APO grew from a simple idea: that good coffee should feel as intentional as the lives we’re trying to build. From long runs and training rides to the beach, to quiet mornings before work, the moments we shared always seemed to start with a cup.

In the beginning, we were just roasting coffee for friends and family — people close to us who appreciated a better brew and the time that came with it. We wanted to share something that felt personal, thoughtful, and worth slowing down for.

What began as Art of Pour Over — a name that reflected our obsession with the brewing process — slowly evolved into something more. We realized it wasn’t just about how we made coffee; it was about why we made it and who we were making it for. People grounded in routine, rhythm, and motion.

Now, APO stands on its own — still a nod to our roots, but also a name that travels. It echoes Mount Apo, the highest peak in the Philippines — a symbol of challenge, elevation, and resilience. All values we aim to embody in our work, our movement, and our mindset.

We believe that great coffee should be approachable and shared. Whether you're just getting into specialty beans or already deep in the craft, APO is here to create an open, inviting path into better coffee — without the jargon or pretense. Just thoughtfully sourced beans, roasted with care, and made to be part of your everyday life.

We roast in small batches, focus on light to medium profiles, and love unique processing methods like anaerobic fermentation. We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. But if you value intention, motion, and community, there’s a good chance this coffee was made for you.

APO is about more than what’s in the cup — it’s about how you move through the world after it.
